Rosebud Recipes

Meet Charlotte.

This is Charlotte. She is a friend of Gyles and Michele’s granddaughter, Isolde, and she is Rosebud’s cake creator-in-chief.

If you fancy a cupcake or a slice of cake while you listen to the latest episode of Rosebud, Charlotte is here to help.

People are starting Rosebud Clubs – where a group of friends meet up and listen to an episode of Rosebud together and then discuss it. If you are meeting up to listen to Rosebud, treat yourself to some of Charlotte’s cakes while you listen.

This is Charlotte’s favourite chocolate cake...

The recipe comes from BBC Good Food and is super easy and delicious.

What makes a Rosebud cake special, is the Rosebud icing.

This is what you’ll need:

  • Buttercream

  • Piping bags

  • Pink and green food colouring

  • A 125 piping nozzle

How to Pipe a Rosebud:

1. Fit your piping bag with your 125 piping nozzle and fill with Rosebud coloured pink icing.

2. Pipe a small cone of icing, this will be the ‘bud’ and the foundation for your rose.

3. Angle the tip slightly outwards and make sure the wide end of the tip faces downwards (towards the centre of the flower) and the narrow end faces upwards (this forms the petal edges).

4. Pipe 3 overlapping petals around the bud, turning the cake as you go.

5. Repeat this with more petals around the first layer, each petal should overlap to give your rose a natural look.

6. Keep going with the petals until you get your desired rose look.
